They are looking for a Supervisor for their Picture Library in Colchester, the suitable candidate needs excellent horticulture knowledge with good skills in software and creative flair.

The role:-

  • Working as a full member of the Studio DTP Team:
  • To supervise and to provide Picture Selection services to the company; including the Sales, Project and Creative Teams.
  • To look after the intellectual property of the company's assets (images and web content), and to be responsible for and control any use of rights managed images.
  • To provide a key contribution to the script/copy writing of plant text for printed labels and web based products.
  • In supervising the Picture Selection process across the company, to maintain clear procedures to provide training and guidance, and to foster a culture of development and improvement by everyone involved.
  • To report to the Studio DTP Manager, providing a well informed picture

The Ideal Candidate will possess:-

  • Key to this role is a good botanical knowledge of plants, and a personal desire to continually improve this knowledge.

Our client is a prestigious public garden and trails ground that are looking for an outstanding horticulturist to be a key member of the senior management team and to play an important role in the development and implementation of the objectives as defined in their Strategic Plan and the Garden Master Plan.

They are looking for someone to lead, manage, develop and empower the team to set and deliver high standards in horticulture/support services and customer services using and planning resources to best effect.

The role will be to take:

  • Overall responsibility for a team of approximately 24 employees
  • Responsible for the performance management and development of the team in accordance with HR policies and procedures
  • Outward looking across the institution and the appropriate sectors of the Horticultural Industry
  • Budget approximately £800,000
  • Managing the Glass, Propagation, Seed and Alpine Plants Department. This includes all Public Display, support Glasshouses and propagation unit, the Seed Distribution scheme, the Rock Garden and associated areas, Alpine Houses, the Alpine Meadow, stream beds and Alpine trials.

For this role they are seeking:

  • An outstanding man-manager who can motivate and inspire the team - must be able to give proof of this ability at interview
  • A true horticulturist with a high level general horticultural knowledge and technical horticultural expertise and/or high level knowledge of / and technical expertise in relevant garden support services.
  • Relevant qualification in horticulture or allied subject.
  • Public facing with superb communication skills

Essential:

  • Significant post qualification experience in horticulture or relevant discipline.
  • High level management skills and the capacity to educate and motivate teams of staff.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Desirable:

  • Ability to lead and undertake strategic and operational planning.
